County recycling coordinator outlines Tire Day, Household Hazardous Waste event and pickup changes

Courtney O'Flaherty updated the Hancock County Board of Commissioners on solid waste and recycling operations during the May 5 meeting.
O'Flaherty said the county's coloring contest is progressing well. Tire Day is scheduled for June 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and a Household Hazardous Waste event will be held June 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. She said the Spring Cleanup on April 25 had a good turnout.
O'Flaherty reported that hauler Rumpke is altering pickup times at some recycling locations and will provide an extra pickup over the Memorial Day weekend. She is working with county IT staff to resolve camera issues at the Recycling Hub. No funding decisions or policy changes were recorded during the update.
