Hancock County commissioners approve routine purchase orders, transfers and ADAMHS appointments

The Hancock County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of routine resolutions and board actions during its May 5, 2026, meeting.
The board unanimously approved Resolution #282-26, authorizing payment of listed purchase orders, and Resolution #283-26, transferring Hancock County Solid Waste Management District tier disposal fees to the Tiered Disposal Fee Fund #5109. The commissioners also approved additional appropriations under the Auditor’s certification to the Veterans Service Fund #2152 (Resolution #284-26) and to the Motor Vehicle & Gas Tax Fund #2002 (Resolution #285-26). All four measures passed on 3-0 votes with motions moved by Commissioner William Bateson and seconded by Commissioner Timothy Bechtol.
The board made three ADAMHS board appointments and reappointments. Commissioners approved appointments of Karl Gingrich (Resolution #286-26) and Jim Darrach (Resolution #287-26), and reappointed Michael Heldman for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2030 (Resolution #288-26). Later in the meeting the board also reappointed Joseph Niemeyer for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2030 (Resolution #289-26). Each personnel action carried a 3-0 vote.
The commissioners signed a notice of filing for an annexation and set a hearing date of July 9, 2026. The meeting packet also included a proclamation recognizing Motorcycle Awareness Month.
The board’s actions on these items were procedural and approved without recorded opposition. The commissioners also approved routine travel requests for the Engineer’s Office and signed employment appointment paperwork for Job & Family Services during the same meeting.
