No FEMA update on Norfolk Southern flood-mitigation funds; county reviews project financing

Auditor Charity Rauschenberg said she has discussed flood mitigation topics with the Treasurer and that staff would make relevant information available; she also encouraged attendance at Data Board meetings and noted recent tax-levy coverage in the newspaper.
A table included in the meeting packet lists a probable construction cost of $16,669,800 for the project and shows grant funding and remaining costs. The table indicates an estimated county outlay of $4.7 million remaining for flood mitigation funds per the memorandum of understanding (MOU), and lists assumptions that county funds are used first, followed by city funds, and that the city is responsible for cost overruns.
Wilson said he had no further update from FEMA or the Ohio EMA at the time of the meeting. The minutes do not record any formal motion or vote tied to immediate funding actions during the April 9 session.
