The Hancock County Board of Commissioners on April 2, 2026, approved a series of routine financial transfers and vendor contracts, including a $43,545 contract to replace security cameras at county facilities and a $1,150 contract to fabricate and install a sign for the new county office at 401 Olive Street.
The meeting opened at 9:30 a.m. Commissioner William (Bill) Bateson moved to approve minutes from March 31, 2026; Jeff Hunker seconded and the motion passed 2-0 with Commissioner Timothy Bechtol abstaining. Bateson also moved (seconded by Bechtol) to approve three warrant journals; that motion passed 3-0. Payroll for the Job and Family Services office and the Commissioners' Office was approved during the meeting.
Lynn Taylor, the clerk, presented Resolution No. 215-26 to transfer Hancock County Solid Waste Management District tier disposal fees to the Tiered Disposal Fee Fund #5109; Resolution No. 216-26 for an additional appropriation to the Sanitary Landfill Fund #5042; and Resolution No. 217-26 to transfer funds between the General Fund #1001 and Capital Projects Fund #4150. Each resolution was moved by William Bateson, seconded by Timothy Bechtol, and approved 3-0.
Phil Johnson presented Resolution No. 218-26 to contract with Vaughn Industries for replacement of 22 cameras at Hancock County facilities at a cost of $43,545.00. Commissioner Tim Stuart said the vendor could begin work the week of April 20 if scheduling proceeds as expected. The motion to approve the contract was made by Bateson, seconded by Bechtol, and passed 3-0.
The board also rescinded a previously authorized sign contract (Resolution No. 43-26) with Josette, LLC d/b/a FastSigns of Findlay via Resolution No. 219-26; the record notes the prior contract was not fulfilled and some parameters had changed. Resolution No. 220-26 authorized a new contract with Chatelain Plastics, Inc. to fabricate and install the sign for the new Hancock County office building at 401 Olive Street for $1,150.00; Adam Miller said he was unsure of the installation timeframe. That motion passed 3-0.
All motions described above were recorded as approved by roll call (movers and seconders noted in the minutes) and are reflected in the board's formal actions for April 2, 2026.
The board's actions are procedural approvals for county operations and capital projects; no ordinance adoptions or policy changes were recorded in the minutes. Next expected steps noted in the meeting record: camera replacement work may begin the week of April 20, and the sign vendor will schedule installation subject to coordination and timing.
