The Hocking County Board of Commissioners approved a series of budget transfers, appropriations and right-of-way permits during its May 7 meeting and moved into an executive session on opinion litigation.
By voice vote the board approved a transfer of $25,164.03 from the sheriff’s fund to cover the remaining 25% of school resource officer salaries and accepted an additional appropriation of $1,250.54 for a traffic grant reimbursement. Commissioners also approved a $75,000 additional appropriation for contract services to cover upcoming invoices.
On emergency management funding, the board approved an additional appropriation for EMA expenses ($91,000 as transcribed) and approved the county share to match an EMPG award: the transcript lists the county match due as $24,045.40 for the EMPG performance period stated in the meeting (10/01/2024–12/31/2026).
The meeting record shows the board approved a long list of right-of-way and utility permits from Frontier Communications, Charter Communications and Sunrise Telecom that authorize new fiber, vault pedestals, underground and overhead cable placements across multiple townships (Purcell, Thomas, Perry, Laurel, Terry and others). Commissioners moved and seconded each permit and recorded unanimous voice approval.
