Mayor Frank Moran read two proclamations at the start of the meeting: one recognizing Municipal Clerks Week (May 4–8, 2026) and another honoring the Blue Devils alternative baseball organization for more than a decade of community involvement.
In his proclamation the mayor thanked City Clerk Melissa Chosewood and Deputy City Clerk China Pryor for their service to the city. The council also heard staff recognition of Sergeant Matt Winfrey as Rotary Club Officer of the Year and received announcements about upcoming Chamber of Commerce events and a July 2 'Hearts for Heroes' collaboration.
“...further extend appreciation to our city clerk, Melissa Chosewood, and deputy city clerk, China Pryor,” Mayor Moran read as he recognized the clerks’ contributions. The council also paused for brief community announcements and thanked local businesses and volunteers who support city programming.
The recognitions were delivered at the start of the meeting and did not require council votes.
