Amanda Cleary, who runs the Second Chance Recovery Program at Ironton Municipal Court, appeared before the Lawrence County Commissioners on April 7 to describe the court’s specialized docket for justice-involved people with substance use disorder.
Cleary said the program currently has five participants, with one participant slated to graduate soon; she reported that four participants are employed, two are in independent housing and one was reunified with a child and had the CPS case closed. As part of outreach, the court plans a “fresh start” opportunity to clear certain traffic or review warrants and to help people set up payment plans, pursue driving-privilege restoration and identify treatment and housing resources. The transcript lists possible court appearances “on April 28 or April 29” for the fresh-start program; the board and court asked residents to check the posted flyer or call the court for the confirmed date and details.
Cleary also said the court is hosting a Second Chance job fair on April 26 at the Nazarene Church in Ironton and that program staff will be available to connect attendees to services.
