Terry Ann Blizzard, scoutmaster for the girls' troop associated with Boy Scouts Troop 106 of Ironton, told the Lawrence County commissioners on April 7 that Troop 106 is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Blizzard said the troop dates to April 7, 1926, and highlighted milestones including a century of Eagle Scouts and continued recruitment for both the troop and its attendant Cub Scout pack.
"Today, we are a 100 years old. Troop 106 is officially a 100 years old today," Blizzard told the board, noting the troop's location at Central Christian Church (1541 South 7th Street, across from Ironton High School) and providing a contact number for prospective members and families. She also listed upcoming troop appearances including Navy Night on May 21 and carrying flags in the Memorial Day parade on May 25.
Commissioners thanked Blizzard for the update and said county staff would help promote recruitment and event information on social channels.
