The Lawrence County Commissioners on April 7 handled routine business including approvals of minutes, permits, personnel hires and financing steps.
The board approved the March 31, 2026 meeting minutes as corrected; authorized flood plain permits submitted by the Soil and Water Conservation District; and approved appropriations and transfers under $75,000 submitted by County Administrator Dylan Bentley.
Personnel actions approved included the conditional hire of Christina Williams as a Child Protective Services investigator pending BCI and FBI background checks, and the change of Leah Bryant from part-time to full-time paramedic effective April 12, 2026.
The board moved to approve engagement as bond counsel with the firm Dinsmore pending prosecutor approval; the motion carried with one abstention. The commissioners also authorized issuance of not-to-exceed $6,700,000 in building improvement bond anticipation notes, pending prosecutor approval; that motion likewise passed with one abstention. The meeting record shows the abstentions were recorded during roll call.
The board also approved awarding the child abuse prevention month contest winners and completed the business portion of the agenda.
