Commissioners release $2,000 for Project Life Saver and appoint new health board member

Washington County commissioners agreed to release $2,000 to Project Life Saver after a request from JRAC representatives during the Nov. 18 meeting.
Myra Albertson and Joe Keltner told commissioners the funding would purchase tracking bracelets for intellectually disabled, elderly and other individuals who may need monitoring; the program currently has seven bracelets and seeks additional units. Commissioner Todd Ewen moved to allow the release of funds; the motion was seconded and passed.
On personnel business, Maggie England of the Health Department notified the board that Dr. Hedrick will step off the Health Board. Commissioner Phillip Marshall moved to appoint Jared Kearschner to fill the vacancy; the motion was seconded and passed.
Auditor Kyra Stephenson read the proposed 2026 holiday schedule (13 holidays) and the proposed commissioner meeting dates; the May 5 meeting date was changed to May 6, 2026. Commissioner Tony Cardwell moved to accept the holiday schedule; the motion passed.
The Extension Office also provided an annual update and noted a cheeseball fundraiser with an order deadline of Nov. 19, 2025.
