Cache County held a special council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 20, and appointed Joanne Bennett to serve as the interim replacement for Cache County Council seat Logan No. 2. The county Republican Party submitted Bennett’s name and the council approved the appointment by voice vote.
The meeting began with opening remarks and an invocation by Nolan Gunnell, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The presiding member noted the absence of Council Chair Sandy Goodlander and Dave Erickson before moving to the single item of business: the interim appointment.
The presiding member told the council that the Cache County Republican Party had submitted Joanne Bennett for the Logan No. 2 vacancy and asked for a motion to appoint her pursuant to Utah Code 20A-1-508. "All those in favor, say aye," the presiding member said. Nolan Gunnell said, "So moved," and also said "Second" on the record; a council member responded, "Aye." The chair then closed the business and adjourned the meeting with no further action.
The statute cited during the session was Utah Code 20A-1-508; the council did not record any further debate, conditions, or an effective date for Bennett’s interim service during the meeting record. The session ended after the single appointment was completed.
The special meeting adjourned with no additional agenda items.
