At the public-comment portion of the meeting, Tawanna Drew of Hampton described recurring transportation problems for her daughter, a Cesar Tarrant (secondary) student enrolled under McKinney-Vento who has been left waiting at bus stops on multiple occasions.
Drew said the latest incident left the child waiting for 30–40 minutes and that earlier attempts to resolve the problem with school officials and transportation supervisors had not produced a lasting solution. She told the board she had raised the concern previously with staff (naming Mr. Caniano and Shameka Pollard) and said she sometimes could not reach the transportation office. "It's been a lot of negligence," she said, and asked the board to follow up.
Chair (role label) acknowledged the comment and said someone would get back to Drew and that the district would address the concern.
