Hampton City Schools honors nearly 70 VPCC associate-degree earners and recognizes salutatorians, valedictorians

The Hampton City School Board honored dozens of students on May 6, recognizing 69 learners who completed the Virginia Peninsula Community College (VPCC) Academy of the College Experience and several salutatorians and valedictorians from the Class of 2026.
Miss Goral led the recognitions and described VPCC's UCGS and ACE programs as tuition-free pathways that allow high school students to earn transferable college credits while completing high school. She said the ACE program enables students to "earn up to 2 years of transferable college credit, tuition free," and the division celebrated students receiving associate degrees before they receive their high school diplomas.
Presenters called students to the stage in groups for certificates and complimentary coins. The board presented salutatorian awards to Ava Tanner (Bethel HS), Angelina Christie (Hampton HS), Tony Dinh (Kecoughtan HS) and Caitlin Chapman (Phoebus HS), citing GPAs and leadership roles. Valedictorian recognitions included Caleb Lucas (Phoebus HS), who was described as the division's student representative and a drum major with a 4.69 GPA.
Several students' college plans and acceptances were read aloud and the board invited families and administrators to stand in appreciation. Board members offered praise and thanked students and staff for their achievements. A group photo followed the presentations.
