Linden honors teachers and support staff; district receives $20,000 grant

The Linden Board and administration used the April meeting to recognize teachers and education support professionals across the district, honor recently announced retirees, and publicize a new grant and scholarship totals.
Superintendent Dr. Perkins called up principals and staff to recognize multiple recipients including ESP and teacher of the year honorees from elementary through high school. Individual presenters introduced winners by school (examples cited in the presentation included Samantha Pizzarelli, Maria Pagan, Jess Kelly, Amanda Manzo, and others) and principals invited staff to take group photos and accept certificates.
Dr. Perkins also announced a $20,000 Phillips 66 Social Impact Grant to be used for technology supports, and noted the class of 2026 has 498 seniors, 73 local scholarships posted, and has raised $3,366,100 in scholarship dollars (applications due May 15; awards night in June). The superintendent and board members thanked teachers, support staff and families for engagement across recent events and said refreshments would be available after the meeting.
The recognitions were celebratory and informational; no formal board action was required to honor recipients or accept the announced grant at the public meeting.
