Washington County approves Cove Road Bridge credit, greenlights private approach and moves to prepare solid waste and road fee resolution

Road and Bridge/Solid Waste Supervisor Jerod Odoms told the board Jan. 5 that Change Order #3 for the Cove Road Bridge project is a contractor credit of $22,120; commissioners approved the credit.
Odoms also presented an Application and Permit to Use Right-of-Way for an approach submitted by Maria Negrete for property between East 11th Street and Loafer Lane; the board approved the private approach.
The board debated proposed fee changes for Road & Bridge and Solid Waste. Commissioner Nate Marvin said he considered the proposed agriculture waste fee of $30 per ton "high." Odoms clarified technical points about accepted materials: waste oil may be accepted if uncontaminated but contaminated oil must be tested at a cost of $400 per 55-gallon barrel.
Marvin moved to accept the proposed fees and have staff prepare a resolution for board signatures; he amended the motion to include both Road & Bridge and Solid Waste fees. The board carried the motion and Odoms said he could prepare the resolution for presentation as early as next week.
Next steps: County staff will draft the fee resolution for formal consideration; the change order and approach approvals were recorded as approved during the meeting.
