Sherburne County EDA reappoints leadership, names Brian Fleming executive director and approves 2025 schedule

Ken Geroux, reappointed chair of the Sherburne County Economic Development Authority, called the annual meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. Jan. 16 in the Sherburne County Board Room.
Raeanne Danielowski nominated Geroux for chair, and the motion, seconded by Laura Kangas, carried unanimously. Danielowski also nominated Andy Voller to remain vice-chair and Laura Kangas to remain secretary; both motions were seconded and approved without objection.
The authority reappointed its financial officers in like fashion: Raeanne Danielowski nominated Todd Maloney for treasurer and Jared Johnson for assistant treasurer; both nominations were seconded and carried unanimously.
Danielowski nominated Brian Fleming to serve as EDA executive director; Jared Johnson seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
The board approved its meeting agenda and the Nov. 21, 2024 minutes by voice vote after motions were made and seconded. Members designated the Elk River Star News as the EDA’s official newspaper and The Bank of Elk River as the official depository; both administrative motions passed unanimously.
The committee set its 2025 meeting schedule and location: meetings will begin at 8:00 a.m. in the Sherburne County Board Room on Jan. 16, Feb. 20, Mar. 20, Apr. 17, May 15, Jul. 17, Aug. 21, Sep. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 20 and Dec. 18. Greta Stark-Kraker moved to set the location; the motion was seconded and carried.
No changes to the EDA by-laws or its enabling resolution were suggested during the meeting.
Brian Fleming reviewed a Local Housing Trust Fund survey and the committee reached consensus to distribute the survey to stakeholders. Fleming also reviewed recent economic development activities; brief updates were provided by representatives from the cities of Princeton, Elk River and Becker.
Laura Kangas moved to adjourn at 8:53 a.m.; Jared Johnson seconded and the motion carried. The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 20, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. in the Sherburne County Board Room.
