HUNTSVILLE ISD trustees approve $8,000 increase to Budget Amendment No. 5 for gym repairs and athletic equipment

The HUNTSVILLE ISD Board of Trustees approved a revision to Budget Amendment No. 5 that increases the amendment’s total by $8,000 to cover a damaged gym floor refinish and one-time athletic equipment and uniform purchases.

Doctor Shepherd, who presented the amendment details to the board, said the district is "asking to revise the total amount of the amendment by $8,000 due to an increase in one of the projects," citing higher-than-expected bids to refinish a damaged gym floor. He said the amendment also funds new equipment and uniforms identified by the district’s new athletic director and includes covered benches for players at the tennis courts.

The amendment was placed on the consent agenda and a motion to approve it was made by Miss Schweitzer and seconded by Mr. Hendricks. The presiding officer called for a vote and the motion "passed unanimously." No roll-call vote numbers were announced in the transcript.

Before the vote the presiding officer confirmed that certification of public notice for the meeting had been given in accordance with Section 551.002 of the Texas Government Code; Doctor Shepherd affirmed that certification. The board also confirmed there were no registered public comments for the meeting.

After approving the consent item, the board recessed to begin a budget workshop at about 6:02 p.m. The presiding officer said the workshop would include a presentation from Mr. Brown.
