Administration presented the consent agenda (overtime report, payment of bills, personnel appointments) and the board approved it by voice vote. The board also approved temporary modified public business hours for the Government Services Building (Monday–Thursday 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Friday 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.) for two date ranges in mid‑May through September 2026; separate resolutions covering union employees were adopted to align documentation with collective‑bargaining requirements.
Sandy presented Amendment 1 to the memorandum of agreement between the Regents of the University of Minnesota Extension and Rice County to add a 0.75 FTE position to support 4‑H and outreach; the board approved the amendment.
Adult Services (Megan) requested declaration of two surplus items from Friendship House (a solar panel purchased in 2024 unsuited for the greenhouse and an exercise bike over 10 years old); the board approved declaring items surplus and posting them for sale on the county website if other departments do not take them.
Administration sought approval of an updated lease agreement with the Rice County Historical Society (originally executed in 1976). Owen explained the primary change is updated liability limits consistent with current standards and confirmation that Rice County retains ownership of the property; elective modifications would be paid by the historical society. The board approved the lease update.
