The proclamation noted that in 2025 the county received a total of 3,319 suspected child maltreatment reports to Rice County Child and Family Services and emphasized the need for community partnerships among child welfare, education, health, law enforcement and faith‑based organizations to prevent maltreatment. Commissioners commented that the number reflects an average of roughly four reports per day and said prevention efforts and community supports are important.
Heather Noble and child welfare staff said the county will return in a few weeks with an overview of division work and policy changes under consideration. The board approved the proclamation by voice vote.
