Rice County honors 37‑year social‑services employee and accepts mural funding

Rice County recognized Eric Lundeen on April 28 as he retires after 37 years with Rice County Social Services. James Martha Eller, social services supervisor, highlighted Lundeen’s career and training contributions and asked the board to join in recognition; Lundeen thanked colleagues and reflected on training he received during his tenure.
"For 37 years, Eric has been providing therapy to literally thousands of Rice County residents," Eller said. Lundeen responded that it had been a privilege to work for the county and noted the county provided him "over 1,500 hours of training" during his career.
The board also accepted a $200 Duck Cup Memorial donation to Friendship House for event rental and supplies. Adult services staff (Megan Thomas) reported the Paint the Town grant award of $754.41 and noted an additional $3,500 previously approved by South Central Community Based Initiative completes mural funding for a north‑side wall at Friendship House. The artist will provide discounted work and run painting classes with program participants; the board approved acceptance of the grant.
