Lucas County schedules sewer hearing, OKs Maumee collection extension and biosolids contract

At the April 14 meeting the Lucas County commissioners heard a multi‑part presentation from the county’s sanitary engineer and approved a package of sanitary and solid‑waste actions.
Nate Incrotte presented items 4–9. He described item 4 (approval of plans, specifications and cost estimate) and item 5 (a declaration of necessity) for construction of sanitary sewer 932 on Woodbridge Drive in Forest Hill in Sylvania Township, stating that this is an assessment project and that a public hearing has been set for June 2.
The board also authorized a five‑year contractor extension for solid waste and recycling collection services with the city of Maumee; Incrotte said a separate agreement with the county’s current hauler, Republic, would follow and be contingent on the city extension.
For recycling processing, Incrotte presented an agreement with a company referred to in the transcript as "State Paper and Metal" to act as a 24/7 backup processor to Gateway Recycling for overflow (weekends/holidays), intended to prevent yard backups experienced earlier in the winter. The board approved entering the agreement.
Incrotte said the county authorized a professional services agreement with Jones and Henry for inspection and shop‑drawing review related to West plant grit chamber repairs; the agreement amount recorded in the meeting was $24,999. The board also moved to award a contract for land application of biosolids at Rocky Ridge Development; Incrotte said three bids were received (Quasar, Denali and Rocky Ridge) and Rocky Ridge submitted the low bid.
A motion to approve items 4–9 was moved on the record as 'Moved by Commissioner Kerkin.' The clerk called the roll and the commissioners recorded affirmative votes; the motion carried. A public hearing on the sewer assessment is scheduled for June 2.
The board adjourned after approving the package of sanitary and solid‑waste measures.
