On April 14 the Lucas County Board of Commissioners approved multiple road maintenance and bridge repair actions after a presentation from the county engineering office.
Kelly Decker, presenting the county engineer’s items, asked the board to approve joint cooperation agreements with the Montclover Township Trustees and the Springfield Township Trustees to include county roads in the townships’ 2026 crack‑seal programs. Decker said the county’s share of work in the Montclover area was listed in the presentation as $57,000 and about $50,000 in the Springfield area. Decker also presented plans, specifications and cost estimates for the county’s 2026 long line‑painting program; the county’s written estimate presented at the meeting was about $330,000 for the program.
Decker further recommended awarding the county’s 2026 bridge repair contract to Romy Nagle for work on bridge No. 95 (Bancroft Street) and bridge No. 101 (Sylvania Avenue); the bid was slightly above the county’s original $404,000 estimate, as reported in the meeting.
A motion to approve items 1–3 was moved by Commissioner Lopez. The clerk called the roll and commissioners recorded affirmative votes; the motion carried.
The approvals clear the way for the townships to advertise bids, bill the county for 80 percent of work up front once bids are received, and reconcile final costs when projects are complete. The board adjourned the meeting and recorded a next meeting date in late April.
