County highlights Hampton Inn & Suites groundbreaking, infrastructure work and community benefits

Suwannee County staff provided an update and slideshow May 5 on the Hampton Inn & Suites groundbreaking and the infrastructure work that made the project possible.
Staff said the county began working with the developer in April 2022 and that the project required a new lift station, utility connections and road upgrades. "We were able to write a rural infrastructure fund grant, get the money to put in the lift station utilities," the staff presenter said, thanking the city of Live Oak for allowing a utility connection that was essential to the project.
The county noted the project also displayed a ladder truck at the groundbreaking, saying state representatives had championed that equipment in partnership with county and regional officials. Link City Hotels’ chief operating officer, Nick Patel, described the project as "a game changer" for the Live Oak exit and said the hotel will increase sales-tax revenue and visitor accommodations.
Board members and staff framed the project as the first of multiple investments that can leverage the newly installed infrastructure for other developments in the area.
No formal board action was required on the update; commissioners praised staff and partners for the work that led to the groundbreaking.
