Grand Junction liquor authority approves most renewals, OKs four special-event permits

Hearing Officer Jill Cenamo presided over the Grand Junction Liquor Licensing Authority on April 15 and approved most routine license renewals and four special-event permits while continuing one renewal over fire-code concerns.
The authority approved Renewals 1–3 and 5–7 as requested: SINH, LLC dba Redlands Liquor; Western Colorado Center for the Arts, Inc.; Sodexo America, LLC (College Center campus liquor complex); Thai Number Nine, LLC; City of Grand Junction dba Las Colonias Amphitheater; and Loyal Order of Moose Grand Junction #270. Renewal 4 (Doughp, LLC dba Coloradough, a hotel and restaurant at 1410 North Avenue) was continued to May 20 after Fire Prevention Specialist Matthew Sewell brought fire-code violations to the board's attention and Deputy City Clerk Misty Williams recommended a continuance.
The board handled one late-filed renewal: The Park (City of Grand Junction) submitted its fermented malt beverage renewal 30 days late. The Park's operating manager, Tim Tafoya, told the authority he had entered the wrong renewal date in his calendar and said he has updated calendar alerts to prevent a repeat. Hearing Officer Cenamo verified the application was in order and approved the renewal.
The authority also approved a new off-premises fermented malt beverage and wine license for Mercadito La Mexicana after reviewing a needs-and-desires survey and finding no legal impediment to issuance; the City Clerk's Office will prepare a resolution of findings for signature.
Four special-event permits were approved under Colorado State Statute 44-05-106: Grand Junction Sports Commission's "Rides & Vibes 2026" on Main Street (estimated 15,000 attendees, May 8–9); Colorado Mesa University Foundation's "CMU Grand Valley Beer Fest 2026" on the practice football field (about 400 attendees, May 15); Save-A-Life-Jacket Program's "Grand Valley River Fest 2026" at Las Colonias (about 1,200 attendees, May 16); and the Western Colorado Alliance's downtown Cinco de Mayo celebration (about 3,000 attendees, May 2). For each event the applicant or a representative answered questions about security, boundaries, ID checks and other controls; exhibits were entered into the record.
No members of the public spoke against the license renewals, the late-filed renewal, the new license application, or the special-event permits. The meeting adjourned at 3:53 p.m.
What happens next: Coloradough's renewal is scheduled for continued consideration on May 20, 2026; the City Clerk's Office will finalize a resolution for Mercadito La Mexicana.
