Trustees choose Wendy Padilla as mayor pro tem after tied tally and make committee appointments

The Board of Trustees conducted nominations and a written tally to select a mayor pro tem during the May 6 meeting. Candidates included Trustee Kevin Brown and Trustee Wendy Padilla; after an initial split the mayor’s written ballot was counted to break the tie. Mayor Kreitz cast the deciding vote and the board selected Wendy Padilla as mayor pro tem.
Trustees then reviewed committee liaison assignments and volunteered as primary or backup liaisons for multiple boards and commissions, including the Arts Commission, Historic Preservation Committee, Highway 52 Coalition, Northern Water liaison, Miners Day Committee, Downtown Task Force and transportation/advocacy groups. The board agreed to revisit the Building Appeals Board composition and purpose at a later date.
A motion to approve resolution 26‑R‑26 (selection of mayor pro tem and appointments to boards, committees and commissions) carried 6–0.
