Committee approves aid agreement, Homeland Security grant and routine renewals; sheriff and EMS reports distributed

At its March 3 meeting, the Sumner County Health & Emergency Services Committee approved several administrative items and received operational reports from county departments.
Commissioner Ben Harris moved to approve a Sumner County/Robertson County mutual aid agreement; the committee approved the agreement and forwarded it to the Legislative Committee. The committee also unanimously approved a Homeland Security grant after suspending the rules to allow EMA Director Ken Weidner to speak on the matter. In separate business, the committee approved renewal of Veeam licensing for the Sheriff’s Office.
Departmental reports distributed to commissioners included the Sheriff’s Office staffing and shelter statistics (two deputy vacancies; 24 correctional vacancies; February animal-shelter intake/out-take counts) and Sumner County EMS operational and billing figures (February calls and transports and a revenue/receivables summary). The Emergency Communications Center provided call-volume summaries for January and February 2025.
Minutes record that motions to approve these items carried and that several informational reports were attached to the agenda packet. No new appropriations or ordinance adoptions were made at the committee meeting; items forwarded to Legislative Committee or full Commission will be considered at later meetings.
