Spring Lake Park Schools board approves submission of FY20272029 achievement and integration plan

The presentation described the plan's required elements, including goals and strategies aligned to the district's operational plan and the Minnesota Department of Education's comprehensive achievement and civic readiness goals.
Board members were told the plan has three broad goal areas: reducing achievement disparities (including strategies that deepen the work of five student and family advocates and support student affinity groups), increasing racial and economic integration (by boosting enrollment in 12-by-12 and career-and-college pathways and partnering with neighboring districts Centennial and Mounds View for cross-district enrollment and transportation), and expanding access to effective and diverse teachers (through pathway programs, continued support for the district EEP staff group, and refinements to recruitment and induction processes).
Following the presentation the board moved to approve submission of the FY20272029 Achievement and Integration Plan. The motion, as recorded on the meeting record, passed on a voice vote.
The plan will be submitted to the Minnesota Department of Education as required; the board was told the plan is accompanied by a budget aligned to each strategy and that annual budget submissions allow for adjustments to reflect implementation realities.
Next steps: the district will file the plan with the state and continue work with partner districts and community committees mentioned during the presentation.
