Turner Construction's project manager, Dave Barrisweld, updated the Butler County Board of Commissioners on the Princeton Road public safety and coroner campus, saying the project has moved from design into active construction with foundations and masonry work underway and about 11 onsite workers currently, rising toward an expected peak of roughly 75 in late summer.
Barrisweld said the project used phased bid groups so site work could begin before full construction documents were complete; the first two bid packages were awarded and have come in on budget, and he explained the construction sequencing and upcoming bids: "we bid that package in July. We awarded in September and then started construction in the field..." He said a large package covering mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and interior fit-out would be released the next day and that furniture and 911 consoles would follow under a final buyout.
KZF Design representative Scott Sendis told commissioners the design is complete, permits are secured and only the furniture package remained to be finalized under the state contract. Commissioners asked about frost protection, utility hookups, and ensuring access for early voting in May; the project team said they are coordinating with Turner, the Board of Elections, Fairfield Township and the sheriff's office on traffic and delivery logistics.
No formal action was required at the meeting; the construction team will return with future milestones and bid results.
