County engineer outlines 2026 resurfacing plan and township road grant process

County Engineer Eric Dodrill told the Erie County Commissioners on April 29 that the county’s 2026 resurfacing plan targets several county roads, including segments of Mason Road, and carries a Preliminary Estimate of Cost of $1,940,000.
Dodrill described efforts to stretch resurfacing dollars by piloting 'reclamite,' an asphalt rejuvenator that can extend pavement life and delay full overlays. He said a more comprehensive plan outlining where reclamite might be used will be developed and shared with the Board.
Dodrill also updated the Board on the Township Road Improvement Program: the application deadline is April 30, and five of nine townships had submitted project requests by the meeting. Submitted projects will be evaluated and scored; approved projects will be funded on a reimbursement basis, with townships completing work and submitting invoices for payment.
Commissioners approved the Preliminary Estimate of Cost for the resurfacing program during the meeting. The engineer did not provide exact timelines for individual road work; the office will return with a finalized plan and schedule.
