The Mesa County Board of Commissioners on April 14 approved a one‑year contract with StrataBlue for an artificial‑intelligence workforce pilot, not to exceed $100,000, and authorized the chair to sign.
Alec Anderson, administrative operations manager with Mesa County administration, said the county was awarded a $40,000 grant to help offset the cost. "We got $40,000, so it's gonna offset some of that cost," Anderson said. He described the project as aligning with the county's strategic goal to "build the best team," and explained it will proceed in two phases: a discovery phase to identify administrative burdens and workforce barriers, followed by a design phase in which StrataBlue will help design automation solutions.
Anderson said the work will involve staff from multiple departments to identify mundane administrative tasks that could be automated to improve employee retention and efficiency. Commissioners expressed support for exploring new technologies and approved the contract unanimously, 3–0.
The contract term runs from April 2026 through April 2027; county staff will coordinate implementation with participating departments.
