Mesa County adopts local wildfire resiliency code to meet state deadline

Mesa County commissioners voted 2-0 on Feb. 24 to approve a resolution amending the county building code to adopt the 2025 Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code, commonly known as the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Code, to comply with Colorado Revised Statute section 24-33.5-1237. The county must adopt the model code by April 1 with an effective date no later than July 1, 2026.
