County to award 2026 paving contract to Barrett Paving; prosecutor required additional testing and documentation

Butler County administrators asked commissioners to approve awarding the 2026 county paving contract to Barrett Paving Materials Inc. Administrator Boiko said discussions with the prosecutor and the engineer led to a special condition that Barrett would be required to perform and document additional testing and inspections for materials and services so the company could prove compliance.
Boiko described the contract as not to exceed $7,876,060 and said the award covers the county paving program for 2026. The administrator said the item had been reviewed with the prosecutor’s office and the county engineer and noted there were related special hauling permits and other routine matters to consider.
A motion to approve the agencies’ resolutions, which included the paving award, passed by roll call with Commissioners Dixon and Carpenter voting yes.
