Commissioners back engineering and planning for Service Road repairs and Beckett Ridge pump-station work

Butler County administrators told the Board of Commissioners they want to move forward with two infrastructure efforts aimed at repairing aging facilities and reducing risks to nearby schools. County Administrator Boiko asked the board to sign a letter of support for Butler Tech’s Aviation/Avionics Center and then outlined plans to rehabilitate the Service Road that serves children’s services, juvenile court and a women’s center operated by Sojourner.
Boiko said the Service Road project is budgeted in the county’s capital reserve project fund and that the county engineer would manage the work. She estimated the project at roughly $700,000, would require competitive bidding, would cover about 730 feet of roadway and include road-base rehabilitation, drainage, lighting and pedestrian-safety improvements, plus a full redo of the juvenile court parking lot. “It’s necessary to do it during the summer months” to limit disruption to the adjacent school, Boiko said.
Separately, Boiko recommended that the board approve a professional services contract with Arcadis U.S. Inc. for engineering, project management and construction management work on the Beckett Ridge pump-station improvements. The contract was described at $388,570 and would be effective 03/11/2026 through 02/28/2027.
Commissioners expressed general support for allowing the county engineer to administer the Service Road contract and for executing the Arcadis agreement, with the chair describing the board’s position as consensus-based rather than a separate, roll-call decision on the administrator’s recommendations. Next steps outlined were public bidding for the Service Road work and executing the Arcadis agreement so the engineering phase can begin this spring.
