Board approves midyear switch of workers' compensation carrier to CompSource Mutual

Union Public Schools’ board voted to change the district’s workers’ compensation carrier midyear to CompSource Mutual, with the swap effective May 1, 2026. The board authorized the executive director of human resources to sign associated contracts and initiate payments.
Mister Loghring said the district pursued the change after the current claims administrator contracted by OSAG repeatedly failed to handle claims properly and after discussions with the district’s broker. "We felt this was serious enough to change midyear rather than wait for July 1," he said, adding that CompSource Mutual has worked with the district in the past and expects to reduce costs going forward.
Loghring told the board the change should not be noticed by employees because district staff will continue to be the initial contact point; any claims that occurred under OSAG would remain with OSAG, while new claims after May 1 will transition to CompSource. The board voted by roll call; members recorded affirmative votes and the motion passed.
