Fox River Grove trustees agree to $5,000 allocation for seniors group amid ARPA discussion

Trustee Patrick Wall and Trustees Jennifer Curtiss and Steve Knar supported using American Rescue Plan Act funds for seniors this year; Administrator Soderholm confirmed ARPA funds are eligible for this request but cautioned that using ARPA for multiple small expenditures would increase staff paperwork. Trustee Andrew Migdal said he was concerned about setting a precedent for other nonprofits and noted the seniors group is not limited to Fox River Grove residents.
After discussion the board's general consensus was to allocate $5,000 from the general fund for one year to the Fox River Grove seniors group, with further discussion about ongoing funding in the future. The consensus was recorded as direction to staff rather than a formal ordinance vote.
