Saguache County approves child-support contract, buys replacement vehicle for social-services casework

Social Services Director Miracle Gomez told the board the department received a one-year contract from Rio Grande County to handle Saguache County’s child-support cases; the board approved the contract unanimously.
Gomez also presented three bids to replace the department’s old vehicle and asked the board to approve purchasing a 2026 Ford Explorer from Town and Country Auto Sales in Alamosa, Colorado, for $41,849.99, to be paid from the Department of Social Services capital outlay budget; the board approved that purchase (3-0).
Commissioner McCracken and staff discussed a planned site visit to the transitional housing location on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, and whether to add a garage to allow children to enter discreetly; Gomez supported adding staff or a case-worker to the visit.
