Clinton schools report completed lead-paint abatement at Sunset Avenue, HVAC replacement and active roofing bids

John Lowe, the district’s technology and facilities lead, told the board the lead-paint abatement contractor completed work at Sunset Avenue and the required clearance sampling "came back today, and all is clear." He said follow-up paint-hazard and abatement work is scheduled to begin at LC Carr and Sampson Middle School after staff leave for summer workdays, with tasks that include removing cabinetry and lockers and then patching and repainting.
Lowe also reported that the 34-year-old HVAC unit in one media center was replaced during spring break to prevent humidity damage to books, and that a donor helped fund protective foul-ball shielding at the middle-school softball field. He said coach and volunteer efforts helped to arrange a post-spring-break scoreboard replacement at the high-school baseball field.
On capital projects, Lowe said the district ran a pre-bid meeting for Sampson Middle School roof phase 1 that drew 13 roofing vendors and that bids were due April 30, which the district expects will increase competitive pricing. He described the process for pursuing reimbursement under the Clean Classrooms program (up to two-thirds reimbursement for eligible invoiced work) and said the district would follow program protocols to submit claims.
No formal votes were taken on capital projects at the meeting; Lowe said staff will return with bid results and next steps for contracting.
