Saguache County approves 2026 bank accounts, janitorial contract after contested motion

At its Jan. 6 meeting the Saguache County Board of Commissioners approved the county’s 2026 bank accounts after an earlier motion to remove a set of accounts failed. An initial motion to withdraw certain bank accounts failed on a 0-3 vote when the board declined the attempted removal; the board then approved a clarified motion to adopt the 2026 bank accounts while removing the Social Services General Account (#0970) and the Social Services Donation Account (#1614) and deferring housing accounts for separate consideration. The latter motion passed 3-0.
The board also approved the county’s 2026 cleaning contract with EnB Janitorial LLC "as amended." The contract vote was recorded as unanimous.
County Administrator Wendi Maez presented the account lists and explained adjustments; the County Attorney and commissioners discussed procedure when a motion is altered after it has been seconded. The minutes show the board will make a separate motion at a later date to address any accounts deferred for housing.
