Saguache County board reappoints chair, adjusts committee liaisons

At its Jan. 6 meeting the Saguache County Board of Commissioners reappointed Tom McCracken as chair, approved several committee assignments and removed the SLV Broadband liaison category, consolidating county representation on regional groups.
Board Chair Tom McCracken was reappointed to lead the Saguache County Board of Commissioners at the board’s Jan. 6 regular meeting. Commissioner Lynne Thompson moved to appoint McCracken as board chair for the next four months; the motion passed unanimously.
The board approved several committee and liaison changes. The board appointed Wendi Maez to the San Luis Valley Development Resources Group as a citizen appointee and named Commissioner Lynne Thompson the county’s representative to the Saguache County Tourism Council. The board also voted to remove Amber Wilson from the Gunnison Sage Grouse Strategic Conservation Committee and replace her with Tom McCracken and Wendi Maez. Separately, the board removed the San Luis Valley Broadband representative category from the county’s list of liaisons.
The actions were handled as a package of reorganization items after roll call and the pledge. Commissioners Liza Marron and Lynne Thompson seconded or supported the various motions; all votes on the recorded appointments were unanimous where recorded.
The board’s reorganization establishes short-term chair leadership and shifts several county staff and commissioner roles onto regional committees and conservation bodies. The appointments will take effect immediately and were recorded in the meeting minutes.
