Alabama parole board grants several pardons, denies multiple parole requests at April 14 meeting

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles met April 14 and considered a 28-item daily docket of parole and pardon requests, granting several pardons and a handful of paroles while denying numerous parole requests and setting reset dates for many denials.
Hal Nash, chairperson, called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. and the board approved minutes from its April 9 meeting on a motion by Nash that Gabrelle Simmons seconded. Nicole Lewis recorded action as board secretary.
Notable outcomes included a unanimous grant of parole to Quinton Foster with special conditions requiring completion of the Birmingham Day Reporting Center, GPS monitoring and mental health and drug assessments upon release. The board also granted parole to Micheal S. Hutchins (approved out-of-state home plan), Travis J. Rhodes (Montgomery Day Reporting Center and monitoring), Issac Sager (approved halfway house and monitoring) and Anthony L. Brown (completion of Perry County PREP and GPS monitoring).
Among pardons approved, the board granted full pardons restoring civil and political rights to Michael L. Baker and Bob L. Rivers (with Rivers’ firearm rights excepted), and pardons or relief from habitual-offender and firearms disabilities for Mark A. Jones Jr., Erica L. Hevner, Samantha L. Hawkins, Cody E. McCracken, Lula D. Wright and Ahmed D. Ali. The board granted restoration of voting rights only to Thomas J. Pruitt III.
The board denied parole for a number of applicants, including Ricky R. Jay (reset April 2027), Vicky N. Quinn (reset April 2027), Darryl E. Carter (reset April 2027) and several others with reset dates ranging from 2027 to 2029; Jeremy J. Robinson was denied with no reset date listed in the docket summary.
The board recorded decisions as unanimous on the docket items and noted conditions where applicable (GPS ankle monitors, day-reporting center completion, mental-health follow-up and drug assessments). The board also reviewed a list of delinquent parole files during the meeting.
The board adjourned at 1:15 p.m.; the next meeting was scheduled for April 15, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at the board offices in Montgomery.
