The Fredericktown Village Council met April 20, 2026, at the Fredericktown Municipal Building and approved routine financial business while receiving updates on utility projects and municipal maintenance.
Mayor Jerry Day called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Council Member Lanuzza moved to excuse the absence of Council Member Cline; the motion, seconded by Shoemaker, carried. Lanuzza then moved to approve the April 20 meeting minutes; that motion was seconded by Shoemaker and recorded as approved with Cline absent.
Administrator Adam Snell reported on capital projects. He provided an update on Phase I of the village's water improvements and said the sewer plant project is progressing, with Snell stating the plant is expected to be online in less than a month. Snell also reported he received a contractor quote to reface a wall on North Main Street across from the mill for approximately $42,000 and said the village will obtain a second quote.
Fiscal Officer Suzan Graves told council a Public Records meeting is scheduled for May 18 and presented the bills, March financial reports and the bank reconciliation. Council Member Lanuzza moved to approve the financial reports, bills and bank statement for March 2026; Brewer seconded and the motion carried unanimously (Cline absent).
The council agreed to provide a $3,000 donation to the recreation district for July 4 fireworks; the record notes council agreement but does not show a formal mover, seconder or vote tally for that item.
Police Chief Sheffer reported the department has received two applications for patrol officer positions and that a background check is underway on one applicant. Committee scheduling and miscellaneous reports were brief: Safety, Public Works and Finance committees noted upcoming meetings and Council Member Lanuzza reported the Fire Board has hired Doug Neighbarger as its new fire chief.
Administrator Snell said paving projects are currently out for bid and that bids will be opened on May 7. The meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m. after a motion to adjourn from Council Member Pugh, seconded by Shoemaker. No votes contrary to the listed approvals were recorded in the minutes.
Votes at a glance: Lanuzza motion to excuse Cline — approved (second Shoemaker); Lanuzza motion to approve minutes — approved (second Shoemaker; Cline absent); Lanuzza motion to approve March financials — approved (second Brewer); Pugh motion to adjourn — approved (second Shoemaker; Cline absent).
