Lisa Brown, township administrator, presented a year-to-date financial overview to the West Chester Township Board of Trustees at the April 28 meeting, reporting $40,280,000 in revenue received to date against a year-end budgeted $68,900,000 and a departmental budget for 2026 of $65,500,000. "We have brought in $40,280,000 to date," Brown said, noting the first property-tax tranche is the largest revenue source.
Brown told trustees that payroll and benefits account for the largest share of spending—about $18,400,000—and that the administration aimed to keep operational budget increases to 3.5% while raising pay and benefits. She summarized strategic priorities for 2026, including enhanced community events, improvements to parks (Keener Park master planning and Beckett Park construction beginning soon with east-side work expected in 2026–27), investments in roundabouts and the Pepper Pike intersection, and additional capital projects for township facilities.
Brown also reviewed public-safety capital needs. For Fire/EMS she said the department completed accreditation earlier this year, is promoting staff and maintaining a qualified candidate list; the agenda included a request to replace an aged medic unit. The police department is near full staffing and continuing training and expansion of body-worn camera use.
On transparency and administration, Brown noted completion of an ADA audit of the township website, an upcoming redesign and a recommendation to renew the OpenGov transparency platform. She said the township engaged Clark Schaeffer Hackett to provide interim legal services while recruiting a new director of finance and that the recruitment for that position had been posted.
Brown said the township would publish the presentation online and provide copies to trustees. The board had no additional questions during the presentation. The administration plans to bring related items—compensation adjustments and an employee learning platform—to upcoming agendas for formal action.
