Trustees approve hire of public information coordinator and contract extensions, and authorize Tylersville Road IGA

At its Dec. 2 meeting, the West Chester Township Board of Trustees approved several routine business items, including a personnel appointment, contract extensions and an intergovernmental agreement.

Lisa Brown presented a personnel item to hire Ken Lavoie as public information coordinator effective Dec. 1, 2025, describing his prior roles, including director of communications for Montgomery County and 11 years in job and family services. Trustees moved, seconded and approved the hire by roll call.

The board also approved an OHM contract extension to bridge phase 1 and phase 2 of the Mill Creek District property work for up to $10,000 on an hourly basis, and authorized the township administrator to make non‑substantive edits with law director approval. Miss Brown said the extension is for rescoping, additional research and renderings if required.

Trustees approved a previously discussed intergovernmental agreement with the Butler County Engineer’s Office for the Tylersville Road widening project after noting a prior procedural omission (a missing motion/second) and executing the corrected vote. The board additionally approved payment of bills (Nov. 8–Nov. 21, 2025) and trustee meeting minutes from recent sessions.

Next steps: Human resources and procurement will complete onboarding and contract formalities; community development recruitment will restart in January after a declined offer and Tanya Pointer will serve as acting director in the interim.
