Anne Becker was elected chair of the West Chester Township Board of Trustees and Mr. Wong was confirmed as vice chair for 2026 after unanimous roll-call votes at the board's Jan. 13 organizational meeting.
Bruce Jones, the township fiscal officer, convened the meeting and called roll before trustees nominated and voted on leadership. Jones asked for nominations; Mr. Wong was nominated and approved as vice chair, and Trustee Anne Becker was nominated and approved as chair. The votes were taken by roll call and recorded as affirmative by the three voting trustees.
The new leadership will preside over routine organizational business, including committee appointments and the upcoming budget work session. Trustees also agreed to a set of 2026 meeting dates during the session.
"Welcome, everyone, to our first meeting of 2026," Becker said after the vote, thanking colleagues and encouraging “amazing work for our community.” The board also noted the historical significance of a woman-majority board during remarks further in the meeting.
The board moved quickly through organizational items so it could address routine business and committee appointments during the remainder of the evening. The meeting adjourned after a final set of discussion items and the trustees completed their scheduled votes.
