West Chester Township trustees approve contracts, hire firefighter and commit $50,000 to VOA museum

The West Chester Township Board of Trustees on Feb. 24 approved a slate of contracts, requisitions and personnel actions, including hiring a career firefighter/EMT and committing township funds to local partners.
The board voted to hire Will Pisani as a career firefighter/EMT effective March 2, 2026, at an hourly rate of $27.75. Miss Brown presented the personnel item and the motion carried on a roll-call vote with trustees recorded as voting yes.
Trustees also approved items 6–16, a package of requisitions and capital purchases. Highlights included a $50,000 annual contribution to the National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting, a $10,000 annual contribution to Ready Cincinnati, renewal of the township’s Microsoft enterprise agreement (~$82,323.78), purchase of a portable ATS speed-alert trailer (~$18,505.72), and a $1,074,841.28 contract with Outdoor Image USA LLC for wayfinding and educational signage for the USS Cincinnati Memorial Peace Pavilion. The board also approved the 2026 paving contract with Barrett Paving Materials Incorporated ($1,808,731.65), additional salt purchases ($200,000), and equipment upfitting and snow-removal equipment purchases totaling several hundred thousand dollars.
Miss Brown said the VOA Museum board has been “a great partner of ours to preserve a piece of history” and that the museum turns township support into additional philanthropic dollars. The motion to approve items 6–16 passed on a roll-call vote with trustees recorded as voting yes.
Separately, trustees approved a renewal agreement with 4 Seasons Environmental for facility maintenance services not to exceed $726,716, citing improved responsiveness and preventative maintenance under the new contract. The board also approved a separate electric aggregation contract for township-owned facilities with Competitive Power Ventures.
Board members approved two community-development appointments (including Carrie Hindle to the Board of Zoning Appeals, term beginning March 1), acknowledged an Ohio Tech CRED grant award (reimbursement of $2,000 per employee, $14,000 total, to reimburse paramedic training costs), and authorized advertising an RFP for security-system providers and installers for township facilities with proposals due March 19.
All motions brought to a roll-call vote during the meeting were approved with trustees recorded as voting yes. The board recessed into an executive session on compensation for a public employee before returning and adjourning later in the evening.
