West Chester Township trustees approve hires, payments, grant application and routine resolutions

The West Chester Township Board of Trustees approved a set of routine personnel and business items at its Dec. 16 meeting, including two hires, several requisitions, grant application authority and participation in Butler County public‑works programs.
Personnel: the board approved hiring Braden Johnson as a full‑time police officer effective Feb. 2, 2026, and Joseph Schulte as construction project manager effective Jan. 5, 2026 at an hourly rate of $38.46; Braden Johnson was sworn in at the meeting.
Procurement and payments: trustees approved requisitions exceeding $7,500 including $45,700.80 to Frost Brown Todd LLC for legal services, $36,997.75 to Cummins Bridgeway LLC to rebuild a reserve ladder engine following diagnostics, $8,016 to renew Lexipol policy/training management for fire operations, and a $46,500 purchase of a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado for the construction project manager. The board also approved payment of bills for Nov. 22–Dec. 5 and trustee meeting minutes from Dec. 2.
Grants and intergovernmental programs: the board authorized applying for the Ohio Township Association Risk Management Authority police and fire grant and authorized the township administrator to accept awards if granted. Trustees also approved statutory resolutions affirming the township’s participation obligation in Butler County Engineers’ 2026 retracing/striping and paving programs and approved a second amendment with the Butler County Board of Commissioners to reclassify unspent ARPA funds to stormwater pipe rehabilitation (administration said funds are already received and spent; the amendment addresses county internal accounting).
Other business: trustees declared a 2008 Chevrolet 67500 dump truck unfit for public use under statutory resolution 36‑20‑25 and authorized disposal by public auction (GovDeals/Cincinnati auto auction). The board voted not to object to a D‑5/D‑6 liquor permit transfer to VB Dining LLC (Vicious Biscuit) at 7240 Outfitters Way.
The board recorded roll‑call approvals for the action items and scheduled the organization meeting for Jan. 13, 2026 and an operational budget work session for Jan. 20, 2026.
