Commissioners authorize draw from building repair fund to replace failed courthouse compressors

County staff told commissioners that two compressors in the courthouse HVAC system have failed and that the courthouse budget had $10,000 allocated for HVAC work this year. "So far this year, we spent $8,202.87 out of a $10,000 budget," Chair (S2) said while explaining the shortfall.
Commissioners discussed previous budget cuts and the distribution of building-maintenance funds across county facilities before moving to pull the additional funds from the major building repair fund to complete the replacements. A motion to transfer the funds and proceed with replacement was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Staff noted some compressors had failed previously and that warranty coverage appeared to have elapsed. The board asked staff to track warranty history and to consider longer-term HVAC replacement options in future budgets.
