At the Oct. 20 meeting, residents raised concerns about the city's housing inspection efforts and a panel described as HOB during public comment.
Ben Bolog said the panel'referred inspections and multiple lists circulated to landlords had been inconsistent and asked which list the city will follow. "What is this panel for?" Bolog asked. "Are we going to turn the City into an HOA?" He said five different inspection lists had been circulated and that the lists did not include dates or times; he also said he had donated a property to the city and wanted assurance the donation conditions would be honored.
Council members did not take formal action on the matter at the meeting. The safety service director and staff discussed procedural items elsewhere on the agenda but did not specify a consolidated inspection list or a timetable for standardizing the inspection process in the council meeting minutes.
The public'comment exchange underscored unresolved questions about the scope and administration of landlord inspections and the HOB panel's role; residents and landlords asked for clearer communication and a definitive plan for which addresses and inspection criteria the city will use.
