Civil Service Commission tables rule changes, approves lieutenant exam invoice

Safety Service Director Mike Dreger submitted an email requesting amendments to the commission’s rules; the communication was entered into the record for consideration. Assistant Fire Chief Johnson addressed the commission to explain the substance of Mr. Dreger’s requested changes and left the meeting at 4:35 p.m.
Chair Renee Young moved to approve the Clancy invoice for the lieutenant promotional exam; Member Matt Mohr seconded and the commission voted unanimously to authorize payment.
The commission then entered executive session from 4:35 to 5:30 p.m. The minutes note that correspondence from Safety Service Director Mike Dreger, grading and letters related to the APD lieutenant promotional exam, and an item described as “Certify APD Lieutenant Promotional Exam” were discussed in executive session. The public minutes do not specify whether any formal certification of exam results was voted on in open session.
Under old business, Member Matt Mohr moved to table proposed changes to the Civil Service rules based on the new submissions from Mike Dreger and said he would draft amendments to present at the next meeting. Member John Gross seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
With no further business, Mohr moved to adjourn; Chair Young seconded and the meeting adjourned at 5:40 p.m. The commission scheduled its next regular meeting for August 11, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. in the same conference room.
