Senate Finance Committee adopts substitute for House Bill 10, advances it to rules committee

At the May 8 Alaska Senate Finance Committee meeting, Senator Stedman moved that the finance committee adopt the committee substitute for House Bill 10, version I, as its working document; the committee adopted the CS with no objection and then moved the CS from committee to the rules committee with attached fiscal note and individual recommendations.
Liz Harpold, staff to Senator Olson and the Senate Finance Committee, explained the change in the committee substitute: dates previously listed as 02/01/2026 were updated to 02/01/2027, and the sunset date was extended six years to 02/01/2033. Harpold described this as a "very simple change" to the CS to reflect updated timing.
The chair asked for objections to adopting the CS and to the motion reporting the CS from committee; in both cases the transcript records "seeing no objection" and records the actions as carried and referred to the rules committee. The transcript does not record a roll-call vote or the names of any seconder to the motions.
The committee announced its next meeting for Monday at 9 a.m. and adjourned.
